Concert season is easily the most exciting time for music lovers (which is essentially everyone). It’s the perfect opportunity to road trip with friends and see all of your favorite artists in one place. Surely, it’s the atmosphere, the concertgoers and the memories you make during a string of 3-day weekends that make any summer one to mention. And this isn’t your first rodeo, you’ve skimmed over a few summer music festival packing lists and you have the basics down: Toothbrush, reservations, tickets, phone and cash in-hand. But here’s a concert travel guide with a few things that you’d want to be sure not forget:

Sunglasses

It’s the one thing that you beat yourself up about forgetting when the sun is unforgiving, blinding even, and you don’t want everyone to know that you’re a little inebriated. These are at the top of the must-have list. Make sure they’re somewhere that’s easily accessible, meaning you don’t have to dig to find them. They protect your eyes and they’re gradient, which we’re sure you can appreciate.

Because germs, ew.

A sweatshirt and a jacket

Packing a sweatshirt and a jacket is a foolproof way to enjoy the show from beginning to end. Use your jacket when you get chilly and let your sweatshirt hang by the waist side, lest you need it to keep from ingesting kicked up dust.

Converse Chuck Taylor

Shoes for comfort (preferably closed-toe)

Nothing fancy, just be sure your toes are protected. More than likely you’ll have to throw them in the washer because…well, mud and grass stains are a given.

A hat (and necessary hair accessories)

Honestly, it’s the farthest thing from your mind when you’re only concern is whose preforming when and what outfit is best for day one’s Instagram-worthy moments. You’re guaranteed to be moving around a lot, between different stages for different artists, and back and forth from campgrounds over the course of the festival. So, pack for those moments when your hair gets a little frizzy or some much-needed shade.

Swell Water Bottle

An empty water bottle

Most importantly, stay hydrated! Being out under the blistering sun all day means climbing body temperatures. An article published by USA Today names dehydration as one of the biggest festival dangers. Luckily, most festivals have free water stations where you can rehydrate and refresh. Get yourself a S’well bottle and carry on.

GoGirl on-the-go device

This isn’t for everyone. But if you’re the outdoorsy type, why wait? You really never know what you need on the road, or out in the wilderness, until you don’t have it.

Ostrich Pillow

Trying to get a quick nap in on a road trip can be a challenge. Trying to sleep in a tent out in the middle desert can get uncomfortable. And seriously, have you ever heard someone say they had the best sleep of their life after returning from a music festival? No. But this Ostrich Pillow promises to be as oddly intriguing as it is comfy. You’ll never have to fold it over or worry about it not fitting in your luggage.

Beach Towel

You might need to take a break, or to sit Indian style as you patiently wait for one of your favorite artists to take to the stage. And when that time comes, do it with style. It’s must lighter than a blanket and no one actually wants to carry a folding chair around all day.

Portable Charger

Portable charger and storage space

Delete those photos from the summer before last and have your back-up battery charged to the fullest because you’re going to want to capture every moment. Not only that, there are usually apps to help better navigate your festival experience. Concert lineups, stage locations, restrooms and food locations are literally at your fingertips. Here’s a portable charger that’s fun and festive. It’s better than draining the car battery charging your phone.
